How many times have you craved moms home-cooking but didn't know where to go and find such a delicious meal? How about wanting breakfast for dinner but all of your breakfast places closed at 2:30pm? What about wanting to have a glass of wine or a mimosa with your meal and realizing they don't sell alcohol at the diner you are at?
Well I have found the solution to all of your problems. I was able to dine at Metro Diner in Sarasota a few nights ago and it did not disappoint. I can recall so many times craving breakfast at night and having no where open to go to where I can enjoy a great comfort meal and a glass of wine. Metro Diner is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Justin Gorrell, Manager at Metro Diner (Lockwood Ridge location) had so many amazing recommendations for food I did not know where to begin. He did warn us we may need a wheel barrel when we are finished with our meal. So we were prepared!
I started off with ordering a glass of chardonnay. It was so nice to be able to have a glass of wine in a diner. Also they have the best deals on mimosas. $2.99!!! Most mimosas at other restaurants are $7 and up!
We started off with the Loaded Chips (Homemade potato chips topped with BBQ
pulled pork, queso cheese, ranch dressing and pickled jalapeños) and the Cinnamon Roll Pancake (Two fluffy pancakes swirled with cinnamon and sugar, topped with cream cheese icing, candied pecans, and cinnamon butter). Strange starting combo right? Let me tell you the salt and spice from the loaded chips paired with the sweetness of the Cinnamon Roll pancake was to die for! Both meals were amazing and I would definitely get them again.
For our entrees I got the Corned Beef Hash with Poached Eggs & Toast (slow-roasted made in house corned beef chopped up with diced red skinned potatoes and grilled to perfection. Served with two poached eggs and toast). I told Justin (Metro Diner/Lockwood Ridge Manager) I was huge fan of corned beef hash and he told me they have the best and it is made in house daily so I had to get it. Boy was he right! The corned beef melted in your mouth and had a ton of flavor! It is definitely the best I have ever had.
My husband got the Chicken Parmesan (Tender fried chicken fillets topped
with our marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Served with linguine marinara and garlic bread) The chicken was cooked perfectly and the meal was delicious.
We almost splurged to get dessert but we did not have any room. We will definitely be back for brunch on the weekends. They have a ton of specials every week at all there locations so definitely check them out.
If you are looking for comfort food, homemade delicious recipes and great deals on wine/beer/mimosas..Metro Diner is a must stop for you! Make sure you don't eat before you go so you have plenty of room for all of there amazing food!
