Mardi Gras in Florida

Updated: Feb 28, 2019

I have always wanted to go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans but have never had the chance unfortunately. I was so excited to be a part of the Mardi Gras media event for Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen!

From February 9th to March 5th you can experience the flavors of Mardi Gras at 3 of there locations: Tibby's Winter Park, Tibby's Brandon or Tibby's Altamonte.

We started off the tasting with the Fried Green Tomato & Crawfish appetizer as well as the Muffuletta Spring Rolls. Good news is these two appetizers you can get year round at Tibby's which made me super happy! The Muffuletta Spring Rolls are stuffed with salami, mortadella, ham, swiss, provolone cheese, olive salad & a side of creole dijonnaise. My mouth is watering while I type this! By far one of my new favorite appetizers! The Fried Green Tomato appetizer is made with hand-battered green tomatoes, popcorn-style crawfish & a side of remoulade sauce. The sauces were amazing!

For the Mardi Gras Specials I indulged in the Shrimp & Andouille Cheddar Grits, Pan Seared Lump Crab Cakes & Grits and the Pastrami Po Boy. If you are a huge fan of grits like I am you do not want to miss these specials. The grits were made perfectly and so cheesy! Crab Cakes were delicious as well! I wish they had these on the menu year round! Also, if you are looking for a new type of Po Boy to try I have found the winner for you! Pastrami Po Boy which is filled with hand-carved pastrami, peppered bacon, swiss cheese & your favorite dressings of lettuce, pickles, tomatoes & mayo. Literally the perfect sandwich!

Now for the cocktails my favorite part! There are three main cocktails on showcase for the Tibby's Mardi Gras Celebration. The No Call (Vodka, blue curacao, cranberry, pineapple & grenadine, over crushed ice. The King Cake Martini *my personal fav* (three olives vodka, Goldschlager, in a sugar-rimmed glass). The Banana's Foster (Captain Morgan, banana liqueur, caramel swirl, half & half, over crushed ice). Fabulous cocktails to get you all pumped up for Mardi Gras!

We finished with the infamous King Cake! I have never tried one before and I am glad I finally got too! The icing hands down was the best part.

Tibby's has some fun celebrations coming up and you will not want to miss out!

Saturday, March 2nd is Family Gras at all 3 Tibby's locations with live music, happy hour specials & balloon artists! Tuesday, March 5th is Mardi Gras All Day! Happy Hour All Day! Live Music 6-10 PM. Who is coming with?
